New York State has issued emergency regulations requiring all healthcare employees to be vaccinated. All Homecare employees (HHAs & Admin) must be at least partially vaccinated by October 7, 2021. This is a much broader and more specific vaccine mandate than we saw previously from NYC.

What information will I have to provide?

1. We need to know your Vaccine Status: Employees will need to complete a survey letting us know if they are vaccinated or not.

2. We need Proof of Vaccination: Employees who are vaccinated will need to email proof of vaccination to [email protected]. A standard CDC vaccination card is sufficient.

Get Vaccinated—Incentives Available $$$

RiseBoro urges you to get vaccinated. NYC is offering $100 to anyone who gets vaccinated through a city run facility (CLICK HERE TO FIND). The first 100 people to be vaccinated will receive an additional $50 incentive (total $150) when they inform the vaccination site that they were referred by RiseBoro. You must confirm the referral at the vaccination site and then call 718-416-4522 to notify RiseBoro that you received the first shot. RiseBoro will then provide the additional incentive shortly after.

Vaccines are safe and effective and your best chance of surviving an infection. If you still have questions, talk with your doctor, click on the links provided in this message, and see for yourself what the science is saying.  Vaccination is the best way out of this mess. Please help us get there.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Why is this necessary? Isn’t the pandemic over?

Infections in the city are more than six times what they were just six weeks ago. Almost 10,000 people will become infected with the virus this week.  Death and hospitalizations are increasing again. The Delta variant is just not the same virus we dealt with a year ago.  Viral loads are more than 1000x higher than with the original virus, which means 1000x more virus particles are in the air when you are exposed to an infected person. We know now that vaccinated people can pass the virus to others and the CDC has reversed its mask policy for vaccinated persons for most of the country. The pandemic is not over.

Isn’t it illegal for RiseBoro to ask if I’ve had the vaccine?

No. We want to respect your privacy, and your healthcare decisions are your own. But asking if you are vaccinated is not illegal.

What information will I have to provide? And who will see it?

  • Vaccine Status: We will ask people to let us know if they are vaccinated or not, exclusively by the survey form with links above.  The only people who will have access to the survey form are Sandhya Boyd, General Counsel, Michele Loesch of Risk Management and
  • Proof of Vaccination: We will provide an email address later this week where staff can submit proof of vaccination.  The only people who will have access are again Sandhya Boyd and Michele Loesch.

Will I be allowed to take a weekly COVID-19 PCR test in place of receiving the vaccine?

No. The new state regulations provide a medical exemption only.  If you intend to seek a medical exemption, please indicate your intention in the survey link provided, and you will receive further instructions on how to document your exemption request.

Does this apply to just the homecare workers, or other Homecare staff?

All Homecare staff are required to comply, including staff who do not have contact with patients.

Are there any exceptions?

The new state regulations provide a medical exemption only.  If you intend to seek a medical exemption, please indicate your intention in the survey link provided, and you will receive further instructions on how to document your exemption request.

Does this replace the Care Connect daily assessment?

No. Every employee needs to continue to complete the Care Connect daily assessment.  We need to know if you are experiencing any symptoms regardless of your test results or vaccination status.

Why get vaccinated if I might still get the COVID-19 infection?

Because it’s almost certain you’ll survive an infection if you are vaccinated.  The CDC says 97% of COVID deaths are unvaccinated patients.
