Empowering Our Communities To Thrive

In Our Community, For Good
Gala 2025 a Huge Success
Thanks to the generosity and commitment of this incredible community, this year’s annual Gala set a new record: raising $800,000 in support of our communities. We are especially grateful to our lead sponsor, BRP, who not only answered the call but invested deeply in our communities when it mattered most. It was a night honoring the strength of our mission and celebrating our four honorees — Hon. Nydia M. Velázquez, John D. Shuck, Robert J. Rodriguez, and Msgr. Jamie J. Gigantiello — whose leadership and dedication continue to inspire us all.

RiseBoro in the Wall Street Journal
Big thanks to The Wall Street Journal for informing the public about how hotel conversions can help create more affordable housing in NYC and for featuring our work with Slate Property Group.
At RiseBoro, we know housing is more than just four walls. It’s about building homes that are sustainable, affordable, and connected to the services people need. Turning the former JFK Hilton into Baisley Pond Park Residences is a great example of what can happen when mission-driven partners team up.

Employee Highlight

Marcia Hargrove
Director, HomeBase Program
For over 22 years, Marcia has led RiseBoro’s Homebase program, working every day to stop homelessness before it starts. She and her team stand alongside families in some of their toughest moments, guiding them through housing court, securing benefits, and helping them find stability when the future feels uncertain.
What makes Marcia truly remarkable is the way she shows up for people. She listens. She explains things clearly. And she never forgets the dignity of those she serves. As Marcia puts it: “It’s about treating everyone like they matter, because they do.”

Iris Garcia
Director, HomeBase Program
Iris’s colleagues see her as a true source of comfort and strength for the families she serves at RiseBoro. “What keeps me going is putting a smile on a client’s face when they thought there was no hope,” she says. Iris’s compassion and steady presence make for a lasting difference in the lives of neighbors across our community. We here at RiseBoro are grateful every day for the dedication and heart she brings to her work.
