Since 1998 George J. Marlin has been Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of The Philadelphia Trust Company, an FDIC insured depository bank and investment advisory company.
Previously, he served two terms as Executive Director and CEO of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (1995-1997). In that capacity he managed thirty-five facilities including the World Trade Center, LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark Airports, PATH Subway and the four bridges and two tunnels that connect New York and New Jersey. In 1993, Mr. Marlin was the Conservative Party nominee for mayor of the City of New York. In 1994, he served on Governor-elect Pataki’s transition team and in 2010 served on Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo’s transition team. Mr. Marlin has been a member of the Governor of New York’s Council of Economic and Fiscal Advisors and a Director of the Nassau County Interim Finance Authority (NIFA), a New York State fiscal oversight board. A 47-year veteran of the investment banking industry, Mr. Marlin has served as fiscal advisor to local governments, municipal credit analyst, municipal bond underwriter and portfolio manager of billions of dollars invested in municipal and U.S. government securities. He co-authored the awardwinning book, The Guidebook to Municipal Bonds: The History, The Industry, The Mechanics. Mr. Marlin is the author/editor of 13 additional books including, The American Catholic Voter, Christian Persecutions in the Middle East: A 21st Century Tragedy, Sons of St. Patrick: A History of the Archbishops of New York, The Quotable G.K. Chesterton and The Quotable Fulton Sheen.
Over 700 essays written by Mr. Marlin have been published in over two dozen periodicals including National Review, The New York Times, New York Post, Newsday, New York Daily News, Crisis, The Chesterton Review, TheCatholicThing.org, Newsmax.com, The Washington Times, and The Human Life Review.
Mr. Marlin graduated from Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School in Jackson Heights, Queens in 1970, and went on to earn a B.A. Degree in Political Science and Thomistic Philosophy from Iona College in 1974. Iona College awarded Mr. Marlin a Doctor of Letters (H.C.) in 1996.
on December 9, 1952, Mr. Marlin now resides with his wife, Barbara, in New Hyde Park, NY. Mr. Marlin, a Roman Catholic, was named in 1991 Knight of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and holds the rank of Knight Commander with Star.
In 1998, Mr. Marlin joined the Board of Trustees of Aid to the Church in Need USA (ACN), a papal charity devoted to helping persecuted and suffering Christians. In 2007, he was appointed chairman of ACN. He has also served as chairman of the St. Philip Neri parish school board in the Bronx, as a board member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka parish school in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and was a member of the Advisory Board of Msgr. McClancy Memorial High School. In 1995, the Knights of Columbus awarded Mr. Marlin their “Pro Deo Et Pro Patria Award” for outstanding dedication to Church and Country. The Cathedral Club of the Brooklyn Diocese, in 1996, named him “Man of the Year.” In 2000, he received Monsignor McClancy High School’s highest honor, the “Cor Jesu” Award.
