Jeanette Cepeda is a social justice attorney practicing law in Brooklyn, New York. Jeanette is a Senior Staff Attorney at Brooklyn Legal Services where she primarily practices housing law. She is an alumna of CUNY’s City College and New York Law School. As a social justice attorney, she persistently defends the rights of low income New Yorkers and is committed to helping RiseBoro address the racial, social and economic inequities of RiseBoro’s community.
Born in Brooklyn and raised by Dominican immigrant parents, Jeanette has devoted herself to serving her community since a very young age. Jeanette’s first job was at the Brooklyn Public Library, where she began working at the age of 14 as part of NYC’s Summer Youth Employment Program. This is where she gained first hand knowledge that funding for youth development is fundamental to addressing many of the inequities faced by black and brown communities in New York.
